” Dear Madam,
I just wanted to tell you that the Cuomo foundation has helped me to pursue my career and to obtain an identity for myself.
Currently I am working as a Senior Software Analyst at Agilysys Inc.
I attended St Joseph’s Higher Sec School in Kovalam and graduated in 2013.
I am from a very poor background and at one point in my life I was not sure what to do next; I had scored well during my last year at school and then suddenly my father became very ill. We had to spend most of the money we had saved for my college tuition on his treatment and care and by God’s grace he was able to fully recover. Yet I was hopeless for any future for myself.
I returned to school to receive my final year exam results, however, for some reason, they did not give me the results and instead told me to visit the Headmaster.
I was oblivious what may be wrong because I was one of those students who would not engage in any sort of mischievous activity. I was terrified of meeting the Headmaster, but I managed to do so.
The Headmaster asked my name and then checked his list and told me that I had been selected by the Cuomo Foundation for the Alfredo Cuomo scholarship program.
He told me they will take care of your education and you did take care of my education!
It’s been more than 8 years, but I still remember that very moment, those exact words and the happiness that I felt. You are the reason for my education.
Since then, I have helped my brother to study and to get a job as a software developer. So, you have not only helped me but you have indirectly helped my brother as well.
I am what I am today because of your kindness and I will never forget that.
Thank you for all the help you have given me, as well as the many thousands and thousands of students like me…
